West Grey has joined the call for more consultation on planned changes to the Niagara Escarpment Plan.
The province is proposing more land be put under the Escarpment Commission's Control.
West Grey Council feels that there has not been enough information provided to allow landowners or municipalities to understand and comment on potential impacts of the proposed changes.
West Grey also feels the proposed expansion will have a negative economic impact on municipalities.
Council passed a resolution to say that they already have official plans and zoning bylaws that conform with the provincial policy statement ensuring sustainable development.
Council voted to not support the proposed changes without a collaborative consultation process and detailed mapping.
They have asked the province to extend the comment deadline to the end of September, and that municipalities be partners in the process.
