The Listowel Memorial Hospital and North Perth Family Health Team have added two more doctors.
Kim Kowch, the health care recruiter for the Family Health Team and Listowel Memorial Hospital, gave details to council on the new recruits.
"We have two new physicians who are joining the Family Health Team and the Listowel Memorial Hospital. Dr. Derek Gateman and Dr. Melissa "Lisa" Trojnar have both joined the team and we're happy to have them join," she says.
Kowch, who also serves as Community Development Coordinator, says there is still a need for more recruitment at the hospital, and she says the health team appreciates the municipality helping to attract more physicians.
She says that she feels the municipality has many amenities that can attract and retain healthcare staff.
"The new rec complex, the new CT that's coming, the new emergency department, ambulatory care, diagnostic imaging, surgical suites are all key things," says Kowch. "Of course the new Fisher Centre as well. There are many things here to help us attract and retain staff."
