Meaford supports a Dundas-area company’s plans to build a bank of solar collectors at Billy Bishop Airport.
Meaford council’s committee of the whole recommended that council support the construction and operation of the solar collector project on a 4-acre parcel of land at the airport.
Pat Goodale of QPA Solar explained to council that any government or private company seeking approval from the province to build such a project must first obtain support from local municipalities.
Now that QPA Solar has Meaford’s support, they can add this to their application to the province.
Various provincial ministries and other agencies must review and approve it. Among these are the ministries of the environment, natural resources and transportation as well as the Niagara Escarpment Commission.
