ACW Council Takes No Action On Turbine Motion From North Frontenac

A spokesperson for Concerned Citizens of ACW was disappointed in the way Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh council handled some correspondence she submitted for Tuesday night's council meeting.

The correspondence contained a number of requests asking council to be proactive rather than reactive to wind energy projects in the township.

The documents asked that council send a letter to K2 Wind asking the energy company to support the study by the Huron County Health Unit and other partners regarding the possible impact of turbines on health.

There was also a request that council support a motion from North Frontenac that all wind energy projects still in the mix be stopped.

Councillors felt they had already complied with most of the requests, and voted to receive and file the correspondence.

After the meeting, Concerned Citizens of ACW spokesperson Anita Frayne said she was disappointed there was no discussion on the request from North Frontenac.

She added the province has already stated that it has more energy than we need so thee's no point in approving more wind energy projects.
