Mapleton residents may notice a change in colour in the Conestogo River on November 17, but according to the municipality, it's nothing to be alarmed about.
It's part of a dye tracer study at the Mapleton Water Pollution Control plant at the request of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.
The purpose of the study is to try and understand the hydrologic characteristics of the Conestogo River in and around the Mapleton Water Pollution Control Plant where it mixes with effluent flowing from the plant.
Residents in the area may notice a pinkish colour change in the water but officials say the dye being used is not toxic to humans or aquatic life in the area. The pinkish dye may be visible in the water upstream of Concession 8.
