The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has sent a proposed budget out to its member municipalities.
General Manager Brian Horner says they held the increase to 2% for 2017, the same figure they were asked to use as a cap for last year's budget.
Horner explains the municipalities are not able to vote on the proposed budget for 30 days so he expects it will come back to the ABCA board at its February meeting.
Horner adds they did have to use some money from reserves to reach the 2% cap but he points out any money coming out of reserves was designated for specific projects.
Horner says it is not their intention to start using reserves to fund general operations.
