The chair of the Perth-Huron United Way presented Huron County council with an update Wednesday on how the United Way is doing, as well as a funding request.
Andrew Williams explained the United Way started working with a three-year campaign and term for chair last year, and enjoyed one of its best years ever.
Williams says by making a three-year commitment, the agency's 47 funded partners have some stability in funding and that allows them to do some longer-term planning.
The funding request amounts to an ask for $1 for each Huron County resident, and Williams asked that the county commit to $0.50. The United Way will ask for a matching $0.50 per resident donation from the lower-tier municipalities.
The funding request was referred to staff for a report.
The Perth-Huron United Way raised a little over $1.2-million last year, and their goal this year is a little over $1.3-million.
