One Care Asks For Huron County Support

The executive director of Huron and Perth's One Care Home and Community Support Services is asking for help.

Kathy Scanlon approached Huron County council Wednesday.

She said one of the most important services they provide is transportation to people in Huron and Perth that don't have their own.  It's also one of the most expensive services they provide, and while they do have some funding,  it doesn't cover all of their costs.

Scanlon says without public transportation in Huron and Perth it's very difficult for some people to get to medical appointments, shopping and other essentials.

Scanlon adds she doesn't have a specific dollar amount in mind but hopes the county can work with them on anything from one-time donations for van replacements to funding to help off-set passenger fees.

The request has been referred to budget.
