LIHN To Consider New CT Scanner For Hanover

Hanover and District Hospital has provided additional documentation to the Local Health Integration Network to support an application to bring a CT scanner to the facility

The LHIN now has 30 business days to forward the application and written advice to the province. The province would then have another 45 days to provide a response.

The proposal was made possible thanks to a $1.5-million donation from Henry and Barb Lansink, which would pay for the scanner and necessary renovations to install it.

The digital computer and rotating x-ray provides detailed cross sectional images for a thorough diagnosis.

“A CT scanner at Hanover will improve patient care for everyone in the region and reduce overall costs for the hospital,” says Katrina Wilson, president and CEO at HDH. “Hanover has the busiest surgical and emergency programs in the south Grey Bruce region and usage continues to increase year over year. The addition of a CT will allow us to diagnose and treat patients more quickly and save them the time and hardship of being transported to another hospital for service. In addition, the cost savings from the transportation can be redirected into patient care.”
