North Huron Looks To Gain Key Information At ROMA 2017

Next week the annual ROMA Conference will get underway.

ROMA is the Rural Ontario Municipal Association, where rural council reps will come together and discuss issues affecting rural Ontario.

North Huron CAO Sharon Chamber says they're interested in hearing about something that specifically affects rural farming.

"Obviously we're going to be interested in listening to any presentations related to the Farm Tax Rebate, and how that negatively impacts municipalities, small rural municipalities with respect to our funding," she says.

Chambers also notes that infrastructure funding is something they want to discuss with the ministers as well. She says North Huron will look to get support for upcoming projects within the municipality.

"We have a lot of water and wastewater projects that we currently have applications submitted to the ministries for, and we'll be wanting to get support for those applications," she says.

Another topic sure to come up is rural hydro rates, and pending natural gas delivery to rural communities. The ROMA 2017 Conference runs from January 29-31.
