A request by some Blyth residents for traffic lights at the intersection of the former Hwy. 4 and County Rd. 25 has been referred to staff.
Blyth resident Bill Knott told county council Wednesday morning that more than 1,100 people have signed a petition asking for the traffic lights. He went on to say there are four different elevation levels entering the intersection and poor sight lines have contributed to a number of accidents there in the past.
Knott said the increase in traffic with the construction of the Cowbell Brewery and the Tim Hortons will only add to the traffic problem.
Knott said when they've asked for traffic lights in the past they've been told there isn't enough traffic, but accurate traffic checks are hard to come by because the roads involved have more than one name.
Knott had requested a motion on traffic lights during the meeting, and said he was disappointed council referred the request to staff.
