Goderich Wants Input In Location of Huron OPP Detachment

The Town of Goderich has sent a letter to Infrastructure Ontario asking to be included in the discussion about the re-location of a new OPP detachment in Huron County.

CAO Larry McCabe says he's heard the province is looking at a more central location, but he suggests there are other factors that should be considered.

Among them is the fact that Goderich is the centre for mental health care in the area, and the court system is in Goderich.

McCabe also points to the almost 280 acres of land in Central Huron where the Bluewater Centre for Young Offenders was located

He questions a decision to locate a current OPP detachment there.

McCabe adds all the town is looking for is a fair and transparent process in choosing the location for a new detachment.
