Major Bayfield Main St. Project Likely To Be Done In Stages

Bluewater councillors have received several presentations on the Bayfield Main Street Revitalization Plan.

Mayor Tyler Hessel says it looks like the project is going to have to be done in phases and it's been broken down into three stages.

The first is the stormwater management plan, with an estimated cost of about $380,000.

The second involves burying hydro cables along parts, but not all of the Main St., and the cost for that is roughly $180,000.  The third involves major infrastructure like creating sidewalks and boulevards, and the estimated cost for that would be around $1.1-million.

Hessel says there is money in the 2016 budget for some of the work and council has funding for the project in this year's budget deliberation, but that hasn't been passed yet.

Hessel suggests they might be able to do the storm water management part of the project this year, but there is no timeline for completing the project.
