Former Toronto Blue Jay Jesse Barfield is committing to being one of the instructors at the 5th Annual Clinton Minor Baseball Camp and 2nd Annual Kincardine Minor Baseball Camp.
In a release, organizer and Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb says the two time Golden Glove Winner played nine of his twelve Major League Baseball seasons with the Blue Jays and led the American League in home runs in 1986.
NCAA Head Baseball Coach Mark Brew is also back this year. The release says he is in his 11th season as head coach of the Lee University Flames. Brew led his first seven Lee teams to NAIA College World Series. He was named conference Coach of the Year twice, in 2008 and 2010.
The Clinton Minor Baseball Camp was founded by Lob in 2012. Lobb says he "noticed the sport was making a comeback in the area and wanted to help foster that growth." Lob says he was able to get sponsors to keep the camp affordable so all kids could participate.
This year's camp is July 10th and 11th at the Clinton Community Ball Park and July 12th and 13th at Kincardine's Connaught Park. It's open to boys and girls ages 8-18.
To register go to www.clintonminorbaseballcamp.ca or www.kincardineminorbaseballcamp.ca. The cost is $60 and space is limited.
