Huron County Not Ready To Give Up On Cycling Infrastructure

Huron County's Communications Co-ordinator says council is not ready to give up on funding to promote cycling in the county.

Scott Currie explains in 2015 the Province introduced its Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure program, which provided funding to municipalities to support the creation of infrastructure for cyclists. Huron County supported an application of the G2G trail for funding under the program and that application has been denied.

Currie points out the county has established a cycling strategy and supports the promotion of active transportation, and so the county is making an official request to the Province to bring back that program, so the county can re-apply for funding for cycling infrastructure.
