Time is running out for Huron County residents to submit their survey supporting internet connectivity in the county.
Huron Communications coordinator Scott Currie explains Federal funding is available through the "Connect-to-Innovate" program, but the money will go where the need is the greatest so Huron County residents have to demonstrate that there is a need in Huron County.
Currie explains internet connectivity has been recognized as a necessity, particularly in rural and remove areas and so the goal is to bring broadband service to as many homes as possible in Huron County. The surveys can be found on the Huron County web site an the deadline for submissions is March 10th.
Currie says around 14-hundred surveys have already been submitted and as a result of Huron County council and staff working together with local providers Hay Communications, Tuckersmith Communications and Hurontel they have already received money through the Small Communities Fund to connect or improve connectivity in one thousand homes as well as schools and businesses.
The online survey can be accessed at http://internetsurvey.cni.on.ca/survey.php, or by visiting the huroncounty.ca homepage for the link. For more information, please contact your local service provider:
