Patient First Legislation Creates Sub-Regions For Local Health Integration Networks

The C-E-O of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says one of the major pieces of the Province's Patients First Legislation is the creation of sub-regions within each of the Local Health Integration Networks across the Province.

Andrew Williams says Huron-Perth will be one of those sub-regions and the expectation will be that all of the health care providers in Huron-Perth work closely together to simplify delivery of health care services as patients move through the system. Williams adds the impact will be felt more at the planning level than within the governance structures of the individual organizations.

Williams adds the creation of the sub-regions won't involve hiring any new staff. He explains the organizations in the sub-regions will be expected to provide support with LHIN staff will provide assistance where it's needed.
