Huron Health Unit Launches Drinking Campaign

The Huron County Health Unit wants county residents to be aware of how much they're drinking.

Public Health Promoter Laura Edgar explains alcohol is a drug and any drug is harmful to health.

Their research shows that 42% of Huron County residents drink enough to pose a risk to their health.

The health unit has launched a campaign called “Rethink Your Drinking."

Edgar says the national low-risk drinking guidelines suggest a woman should have no more than two drinks a day and men should not have more than three drinks a day and that should be, at the most, five days a week.

Edgar also says it's important to know how much alcohol is in your drink.

She says a standard glass of wine is five ounces, not a full glass and one regular-size beer is considered a standard drink.
