The unemployment rate in the Stratford-to-Bruce Peninsula economic region rose for the second month in a row.
It went from 6.3 per cent in February to 6.8 per cent in March.
Overall employment in March across Perth-Huron-Grey-Bruce dropped by 3,700. This decrease is attributed to part-time employment losses of 4,100, offset by gains of 400 in full-time.
Employment fell in both the services-producing sector and the goods-producing sector. The hardest hit was the services-producing sector with 2,700 job losses.
Employment gains were mainly in professional, scientific and technical services, business, building and other support services.
Job fairs in Owen Sound and the Municipality of West Grey last month saw employers advertising in excess of 1,000 jobs.
