Representatives at Launch Pad are expressing thanks to both media members and the Intelligent Community Forum's co-founder for a recent tour.
Louis Zacharilla's Top 7 list includes Moscow, Russia, Edmonton, Alberta, two cities in both Taiwan and Australia, as well as Grey County, which has Warden Al Barfoot saying it's great recognition for the county.
Candidates are selected on seven criteria: 1. Broadband Internet 2. Knowledge Workforce 3. Innovation 4. Digital Equality 5. Sustainability 6. Advocacy 7. Annual Theme (2017 Annual Theme: 'The Internet of Cities")
Launch Pad Executive Director Jacinda Rudolph says she really appreciates that Grey County has involved them in the competition. She says it shows the county supports youth in their area, and recognize the challenges that youth have in wanting to remain in rural communities.
"We're the only type of youth skill centre in our area, we're the second one in Canada," says Rudolph. "It puts us on a global platform which before we had been recognized for another award for provincial but this is global."
The Intelligent Community Forum Awards conclude on June 8 in New York City.
