Huron County Economic Development Board Approves NRStor Proposal To Store Compressed Air

Huron County's Economic Development Board has endorsed a proposal to store compressed air in abandoned salt caverns in Goderich.

The Board held a special meeting on Friday to review the project and vote on sending a letter to Goderich council expressing their support. Following the discussion the board approved sending a letter of support. Chair Jim Lynn says this is a relatively small project and it's still very early in the process but the board believes it sends a clear message that Goderich and Huron County is open to innovation.

Lynn also acknowledges that some concerns have been expressed regarding noise issues and threat to the environments but he points out there are regulations in place and he understands those concerns have been addressed. Lynn says ultimately anytime world leaders in a particular field view Huron County as a good place to invest that's an opportunity.
