Perth Wellington MPP Launches Petition To Save Long-Term Care Beds

Perth Wellington's MPP has launched a petition asking the province not to eliminate any long-term care beds in his riding.

Randy Pettapiece says the area has already lost beds, and could lose more with the pending closure of Hillside Manor near Sebringville.

He says the government wants to transfer 38 of the long term care home's 90 beds to London, meaning even more difficulty in accessing a long term care bed in Perth Wellington.

Pettapiece says the petition is needed to get the government's attention, so the region can stop the loss of more beds.

Many long-term care bed licences are set to expire in the near future, and many homes require significant investment to stay open.  Pettapiece say it's a problem for every community in Perth Wellington, and the province has admitted that demand for long term care beds in Ontario is already outpacing supply.

Pettapiece says he has asked the Minister of Health for details on the consultation process, but has yet to see a response.

You can sign the petition at pettapiece.ca. or call his office to have one mailed to your [1-800-461-9701]

Completed petitions can be returned in their original form to Pettapiece’s constituency office: 55 Lorne Ave. E, Unit 2, Stratford, Ontario, N5A 6S4.
