Huron County's communications coordinator says the county recognizes that tourism is a huge part of the its economy.
Scott Currie says in recognizing that fact, the county is working with a Tourism, Arts and Culture Task Force made up of local industry experts and tourism operators to help them assess and raise the performance of the tourism program. Currie says part of its job will be to help integrate arts and culture into the tourism program because it's been shown that arts and culture are an integral part of what Huron County has to offer.
Currie also points out the Tourism, Arts and Culture Task Force is promoting a much stronger online presence in recognition of the fact that most people now use the internet to find the destination they want, and then make their reservations. As a result, Currie says it's critical that Huron County has a strong online presence.
Currie says the county has just published a new, revamped in-market visitor's guide. He says it's full of Huron County attractions and the websites that direct people looking for more information.
