Bayfield's Virtual School Continues To Grow

The principal of the Virtual High School in Bayfield says their business has grown significantly over the past few months and that's meant hiring more staff.

Steve Baker says they got a large contract last fall to help develop curriculum for Florida State and that required hiring over 60 new people.  The skills involved range from people with degrees in education and history, as well as several graphics and multimedia people.

Baker says to get people to move, they have to offer a good wage and provide the kind of working environment that young people are looking for.

They conduct initial interviews on Skype and by the time people come to Bayfield for an in-person interview, most of the problems have been worked.

Baker adds Huron County and the Bayfield area pretty much sell themselves, so once people get here they're quite willing to move.

With a staff of around 90 people now, Baker says one of his biggest problems is finding parking space.
