The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance celebrated National Volunteers Week with a reception in Mitchell that attracted over 120 people.
CEO Andrew Williams says it gave him an opportunity to thank the volunteers that keep the hospitals running in Clinton, Seaforth, Stratford and St. Marys.
Williams says anyone who's ever come into a hospital appreciates what a volunteer means to the organization – they're often the first person a visitor to the hospital sees.
Last year, they tracked the recorded hours that volunteers put in at the four sites. The total was 42,000 hours, and that was only the recorded hours.
Williams says every aspect of the organization is touched, directly or indirectly, by volunteers.
