The President of the Provincial Treasury Board paid a visit to Stratford on Friday to announce 2.4 million dollars in funding for the city under the province's Connecting Links program.
Liz Sandals, who is also the M-P-P, explained connecting links are municipal roads or bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community. Stratford Councillor Brad Beatty said the 2.4 million dollars would be used to pave portions of Erie Street, pointing out Stratford was not unique among Ontario's towns and cities in having some roads that needed some attention, and Erie Street definitely met the criteria. Beatty points out Erie Street is one of the main entrances into Stratford.
Sandals added the Connecting Links program provides 25-million dollars for connecting roads throughout Ontario.
