New Executive Director For LHCCC

The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation has a new executive director.

Erinn Lawrie joined the centre’s Goderich office in 2015 as coastal stewardship coordinator. She's a graduate of the Ecosystem Management Technology Advanced Diploma Program at Fleming College in Lindsay.

Her background in shoreline stewardship and coastal ecosystem monitoring includes working with Kawartha Conservation and the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority.

Lawrie replaces Matt Hoy, who left the centre in April.

She admits there will be challenges ahead, but is also encouraged by the growing interest in environmental issues.

She says there's been a lot of discussion on social media, and more people are aware of their impact on the lake and the impact the lake has on our health and economy.

Lawrie says they are now working on their second municipal forum.

It involves inviting municipal officials from all communities to meet and discuss shoreline issues. That forum is planned for this fall.
