Brockton Mayor David Inglis says the Hanover-Walkerton Landfill Agreement needs to be re-negotiated, to better reflect the needs of both parties.
Inglis says there are some aspects that Brockton finds unfair.
"We just think it needs to be a little more fair, and in our position there are some issues there with administrative costs, and some of the amount of landfill that goes into the site," he says. "There's a little more from Hanover than Brockton."
Inglis also says this is just the beginning on discussions with Hanover, and he's very optimistic that a conclusion can be reached that's fair for both sides. Inglis says a conclusion has to be reached, rather than an alternate costly new landfill.
"We certainly don't want to have to build a new landfill site. I mean, that's just about impossible these days. I don't know how communities that are near the end of the life of their landfill are going to be able to do that. So, we do need to work this out and move forward," says Inglis.
