Listowel's Corey Conners set a course record during the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier at the Springfield Country Club in Ohio, and was one of four to advance to the U.S. Open.
Conners missed the cut at last week's Web.com Tour event, the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh, North Carolina but it gave him time to prepare for the sectional qualifying.
Conners shot a blistering 9-under 61 in his opening round at the Springfield Country Club and beat the course record by two strokes.
Conners second round saw him finish with a 3-under 67 but he was still able to finish the event in first place, three strokes up on second place finisher American, Brian Stuard.
The top four from the event qualified for the US Open including Americans Brice Garnet and Ryan Brehm.
The US Open is June 12 to 18 at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin.
