One Dead in Wellington Crash

One person is dead and two others injured after a crash in Wellington County.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened around 7:30am Saturday on the Halton-Erin Townline near Acton. The OPP say a Kia SUV and a Dodge minivan collided head-on.

The driver of the Kia SUV, a 37-year-old Brampton man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, the passenger in the Kia, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Markdale, the sole occupant in the minivan, was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The deceased driver is not being identified until loved ones have been notified.

The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators unit is investigating the crash and speed may have been a factor. Police say charges may be pending.

The Halton Hills Fire Department, Halton Region Paramedic Services and Halton Regional Police Service assisted the Wellington OPP in the collision investigation.

The Halton-Erin Townline was closed between the Fourth Line and Fifth Line while the investigation was finished. The road has now reopened.
