Services Review To Start Soon In Huron County

Huron County's Economic Development Board is ready to proceed with its review of government services in the county.

Board Chair Jim Lynn says they are not attempting to change government services, as much as look at how the county and the nine municipalities deliver services related to economic development.

Lynn also points out that it's not necessary for all municipalities to buy in, but it makes sense to at least ask the questions and determine what opportunities are available.

He says the ultimate goal is paving the way for economic development by creating some consistencies in the process for development in each of the nine municipalities and the county.

At this point, he says some lower-tier municipalities have accepted their request to make a presentation, and others have not.

"We certainly respect the boundaries that are between municipalities, and the municipalities and the county, but often those are friction points in terms of cross-border servicing, in terms of how decisions get made where it could impact a couple of levels of government or municipalities and I think the consistency in communications alignments could certainly help us in some of those areas," says Lynn.
