OHL Wrap: Attack Rout Firebirds; Rangers Lose In a Shoot Out

Alan Lyszczarczyk struck twice including the eventual game winner and set up another as the Owen Sound Attack defeated Flint 7-1.

Brett McKenzie scored and had two helpers in the win.

Daylon Groulx also had a pair of goals and Ethan Szypula set up a pair for the Attack.

Groulx got things started just over three minutes into the game. Jack Wismer answered for the Firebirds at 14:05 of the first.

Lyszczarczyk's game winner game at just 1:21 of the second and Nick Suzuki added insurance at 7:22 of the middle frame. Lyszczarczyk woud score again midway through the period to put the Attack up 4-1 and Groulx scored his second of the contest at 11:48 of the second.

McKenzie scored less than a minute and a half into third period to give the Attack a 6-1 lead. Szypula's goal midway through the final frame gave the Attack a 7-1 advantage.

The Attack chased Luke Cavallin from net midway through the second after he allowed five goals on 20 shots. Garrett Forrest made 14 saves on 16 shots in relief.

Olivier Lafreniere stopped 28 shots for the Attack.

Sarnia 4 Kitchener 3 (SO)

The Kitchener Rangers lost a close contest to the Sarnia Sting, falling 4-3 in a shoot out.

Sarnia's Anthony Salinitri forced extra time with a goal at 5:31 of the third.

Drake Rymsha and Jordan Ernst scored in the shoot out for the Sting. Joseph Garreffa scored for the Rangers.
