Sugar Kings Let Early Lead Slip but Rally for the Win

The Elmira Sugar Kings scored four times in the third period to beat Stratford 7-4 and take a 2-1 lead in their GOJHL conference semifinal.

Ethan Skinner and Jeff Jordan led the Sugar Kings with a pair of goals and an assist each. Jordan's goals were back-to-back in the first five minutes of the game. Skinner scored early in the first and late in the third.

The Sugar Kings chased Stratford netminder Ruan Badenhorst from net with three goals in the first 5:05 of the game. He had faced eight shots. Andrew Vigliatore stopped 27 of 30 shots in relief.

The Warriors were able to score two of their own before the period was over and score two more in the second to take the lead heading into the third.

Ethan Wiseman had three assists for Elmira. Ryan Takamatsu scored the game winner on the power play at 12:24 of the third. Spencer Cornelli had an empty netter with 65 seconds left in regulation.

The Warriors were led by Jack Scanlan who scored and set up two more. Kaleb Pearson set up two of the Warriors goals. Other goal scorers: Sean Ross, Ryan Cullen, and Curtis Abbott.

Game 4 goes tomorrow night in Elmira at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
