The Listowel Improvement Area officially kicked off its "Win This Space" contest, offering business and financial support to help open the door for potential entrepreneurs.
The idea was adopted from a project implemented by a neighbouring community, and it's hoped at least one business will fill some of the available commercial space in-and-around Listowel.
BIA Coordinator Lisa Schaefer says 30 ideas will be selected on April 27, who will then be part of required education workshops, which will provide support and mentoring to ideas submitted.
From those 30, five finalists will be selected, who will then take part in a "Dragon's Den-style" contest with judges, some of whom are local business owners. One entrepreneur will win $15,000 worth of rent, $5,000 worth of donations, and a one-year membership from the Chamber of Commerce.
Applications will be accepted until April 27 at 4pm. More information available at DiscoverListowel.com
