A major road reconstruction project will cause some traffic detours in Hanover this summer.
7th Ave. is getting some much needed work done between 12th and 16th streets.
Hanover Director of Public Works Ron Cooper says the project will begin in a few months.
"It's scheduled to commence at the end of July and will take approximately three months to complete involving new water, sanitary and storm infrastructure, along with road work and new sidewalks," he says.
The cost of the project is just over $2.4-million and is a joint project between Grey County and the Town of Hanover, who both factored it into their respective 2018 budgets.
Cooper says they will have to divert traffic around the work for a lengthy period while construction is in progress.
"For the smaller vehicles, we would be looking at detours at 10th St. and direct them over to either County Rd. 22 in Bruce County to the west, or another alternative is Grey County Rd. 28 to the east," he says.
