Bruce Power is asking for public support to break the stigma of mental health during the company's third annual Break the Silence campaign.
Bruce Power is encouraging people to use the hashtag #BreakTheSilence18 on Twitter, LIKE or SHARE the Break the Silence video on the Bruce Power Facebook page and LIKE the Break the Silence video on Bruce Power’s Instagram account.
For every LIKE or SHARE or use of the hashtag, the company will donate $1 to local mental health initiatives.
Last year’s campaign saw 9,925 tweets sent using the hashtag and the Break the Silence Facebook post was shared close to 10,000 times.
Since 2016, Bruce Power has donated more than $160,000 to local mental health initiatives.
"Bruce Power recognizes the importance of good mental health both for our employees and for the members of our communities at large," said Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power executive vice president, human resources. "One in five Canadians are expected to have mental health incident or issue each year. It’s so important we continue to break down the barriers and talk about mental health to help destigmatize it."
