The unemployment rate for the Stratford-to-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region fell in April by 0.5%, a result of 1,700 people leaving the labour market.
The rate was listed at 4.4%. The provincial unemployment rate in April was unchanged at 5.7%.
Employment in the four county region declined by an estimated 400 full-time jobs, and 200 part-time positions.
Declines were spread across a number of industries, including construction, agriculture, and utilities. There were also job losses in health care and social assistance.
But employment grew by 2,000 in manufacturing in April, and 500 in the services-producing sector.
