UPDATE: Attempted Murder Charge Laid In Shooting Near Dornoch

A Kitchener man has been charged with attempted murder after another person suffered a gunshot wound near Dornoch.

The West Grey Police Service say early Thursday morning, officers were called to a residence at Glenelg Holland Townline where a male of unknown age was found to have been shot with a firearm. The victim was rushed to hospital and later airlifted to another hospital to be treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Officers contained the area and following an investigation were able to identify a suspect.

West Grey Police Service and the Waterloo Regional Police Service found the suspect in the area of Bloomingdale Rd. S in Kitchener. Officers later executed a high-risk takedown on Bridge St. E in Kitchener and seized three loaded handguns, ammunition, a large quantity of cash, pills and suspected methamphetamine.

As a result, 31-year-old Christopher Nevius of Kitchener has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm with intent.  He has since been turned over to police in West Grey and will appear at the Walkerton Courthouse on Friday.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 519-371-6911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
