Do Not Use Water Advisory For Part Of Owen Sound

The City of Owen Sound is making public facilities available to residents affected by a precautionary "Do Not Use" water advisory in an area above the escarpment on the west side.

Residents of all properties north of 8th St. are being warned not to use or drink the water except to flush the toilet.

Crews are working to repair the water main break on 10th St. E, which has been closed between 1st Ave. W and 2nd Ave. W.

The province requires clean test results before the advisory is lifted, which could take a few days.

The city is making the Bayshore Community Centre at 1900 3rd Ave. E available for showers between the hours of 8am and 5pm during the advisory period.

Drinking water is also available at the Bayshore. Affected residents are encouraged to bring their own water containers for transportation.

The family YMCA is also available for showers throughout the week from 5:45am-10pm. If you plan to attend the Y, bring Photo ID, toiletries, and a lock.

Those with accessibility or mobility concerns requiring drinking water may contact Public Works at 519-376-4274 to have drinking water delivered.

The United Way of Bruce Grey located at 380 9th Street East is available as a water fill station and “211” is available as a resource for residents to call 24 hours per day.

There is currently no timetable for the re-opening of 10th St. between 1st and 2nd Ave. W.
