The old bridge at the north end of Bayfield will be replaced.
Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel says some engineering work still needs done, but a new bridge on Hwy. 21 will be coming.
"Within the next year I guess is the easiest way to put it. They haven't put down concrete dates yet, but they'd like to start construction in 2019 or 2020," stated Hessel.
The existing bridge will be used until construction begins, at which time a temporary bridge will be constructed as the old bridge is replaced.
"Pending any accidents or something like that, they're just hoping to get through the next season with the existing bridge, and then hopefully start the next year with some construction on what will likely be a temporary bridge," added Hessel.
