Perth-Wellington MPP Concerned About Russeldale Corner Safety

The MPP for Perth-Wellington has asked the Minister of Transportation to examine all safety options for the intersection at Russeldale.

Since 2011, there have been at least 13 collisions at the corner of Perth Line 20 and Perth Road 164. Not including this year, two of the collisions resulted in deaths, six resulted in personal injury, and five crashes lead to property damage.

There have been two tragic collisions at that corner this summer, including one that caused a loss of life.

In a letter to his colleague, MPP Randy Pettapiece asked Minister of Transportation John Yakabuski to look at all options to improve safety at this intersection, including the potential for a round-a-bout.

Pettapiece stated, "I would like to thank the paramedics, police and fire departments that responded to the crash this past Sunday. Thank you as well to the residents of Russeldale and West Perth for helping direct traffic while our EMS personnel attended to the crash victims."
