UPDATE: One Dead, Two Injured In Huron County Crash

A two-vehicle crash east of Clinton has left one person dead and another fighting for their life.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Tuesday shortly before 2:17pm, a small passenger car was travelling west on Huron Rd. (Hwy. 8) it crossed the centre line and collided with an eastbound minivan.

The male driver and only occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in London.

There were two people in the minivan at the time of the crash who became trapped and had to be extricated. The female driver was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries and her male passenger was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those involved in the collision will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Huron Rd. (Hwy 8) between Front St. and Sanctuary Line re-opened to traffic around 9pm.
