Huron County's Warden had several opportunities to meet with provincial officials at last week's Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa.
Jim Ginn says most of the meetings he had were as a team of the 15 wardens that make up the Western Wardens Caucus, so that adds a little weight to their presentation.
Ginn says his concerns were around broadband for Huron County, general infrastructure funding and long-term home care, and several of the other wardens also were interested in high-speed rail.
Ginn adds he was not able to discuss the future of the former Bluewater Centre for Young Offenders near Goderich that has been vacant for more than four years.
He says the county's Economic Development Board is in touch with Infrastructure Ontario on a regular basis and at this point the province is conducting studies and de-commissioning the lagoon system.
Ginn says Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson has expressed an interest in touring the facility and he hopes to be able to arrange that as soon as possible.
