The town of Seaforth will be going some extensive renovations to its downtown area over the next few years.
Huron County will do the work on County Road 12 from the railway tracks out towards Kippen in the first year, and the following year work will begin on the downtown core.
That will include tearing up the main street, redoing sidewalks, pavement, and putting in a sewer trunk line on County Road 12 up through Egmondville, to facilitate future expansion.
Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan said it could take up to eight years to see the project completed, but adds given what will be done to the downtown, it's a reasonable amount of time.
"We have a number of developers who are doing some big projects here in Huron East, in and around the Egmondville and Seaforth area so we are going to be using more and more of those services. So if we have to expand, it just makes sense to put everything in place so that we can bring everybody online at some point," he said.
