A Bruce Peninsula OPP constable was recognized for her life-saving actions
Constable Katrina Rubinstein Gilbert was recognized earlier this month at an award ceremony in London for acting quickly when a referee at a college basketball game suddenly collapsed.
She was there watching the game in January 2017, and her actions helped ensure the man survived.
She found no pulse, and started compressions, as two paramedic students provided breaths. 911 was called, and an AED was used to administer shocks before the patient was taken to the hospital.
Doctors attributed the quick response, CPR and the AED as vital to saving the man's life.
Officer Rubinstein-Gilbert has been honoured for her extraordinary effort and quick thinking that saved a life.
