Branch 109 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Goderich launches its annual Poppy Campaign on Friday.
Poppy Chair Ben Prouse said age is catching up with many of the volunteers who used to go door to door with their campaign, and now they're having to depend on Canada Post for that.
Prouse said he believes that young people are beginning to recognize the significance of Remembrance Day.
"I think the young people... it's starting to catch on. I know some people, you ask the younger generation if they... why should they remember, it happened years ago? That hurts my feelings because I have uncles who were in the service, so it's really close to my heart," he said.
Starting Friday, poppies should be availible in most stores in the Goderich area.
Prouse hopes more people will come out for the service on the Courthouse Square on November 11.
