West Grey police arrest motorist who called 911

Late Halloween night, a man called West Grey police on himself while he was driving under the influence of drugs.

The caller claimed his son was feeling paranoid, and police managed to track down the phone number attached to the name they were told. When they called the father, he had been sleeping and had no idea where his son was.

The caller used 911 again to say he was driving to Durham hospital to visit his son.

Police soon observed a vehicle being driven in a strange manner, with the driver flailing his arms around in a panic while driving.

Police stopped the car, found suspected Percocet powder and transported the driver to the hospital.

He was deemed in good health, but a drug recognition expert evaluated the suspect and determined he was impaired.

A 23-year-old Durham man is facing charges.
