New Bluewater mayor looks ahead at 2019 budget

Councillors with the Municipality of Bluewater were sworn in at Monday night's inaugural meeting.

Only four of the nine councillors are returning following the recent election.

Mayor Paul Klopp said one of the biggest items for him is the budget.

"As we start the process, and we're going to try and keep it as low as possible. The staff have been directed to come in with the first draft showing no increase to the ratepayers and then we will go, as promised, line by line and see where we can go from there," he said.

Klopp said he also wants to get together with shoreline property owners to prepare a response to the draft Shoreline Management Plan presented by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority.

The conservation authority has asked for a report back to January 28.
