North Huron council has agreed to a primary site plan agreement for a commercial project at the south end of Wingham, at the intersection of Amberley Road and Josephine Street.
Huron County planner Laura Simpson said this is the first of a two-part site plan, with a second portion expected to be presented to council early next year.
The first sketches lay out the developer's plans to construct a retaining wall, install storm sewers, and complete the placing of soil to raise the site above street level. This filling process began in late August and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.
Some councillors expressed concern regarding water levels at the site, which has seen flooding in the past.
Simpson says the second site plan will deal with, among other things, stormwater management.
