Huron County's warden says there was a bit of a hiccup recently in the plan to bring broadband to Southwestern Ontario.
Jim Ginn said he was attending a meeting of the Western Warden's Caucus with OMAFRA officials, and by teleconference call with the Minister of Infrastructure on an update of the SWIFT project.
"The Economic Development people at OMAFRA were not satisfied with the way the report was written," said Ginn. "SWIFT went back and re-wrote it, based on their recommendations, and they now feel there's enough changes from the original agreement with the Federal government that we needed to make sure that the Feds were still on-side for their contribution."
Ginn said he does not expect the re-write will result in any delays to the project and he expects federal approval sometime in January at the latest.
